Dear Creator Spirit,
I have decided that I am in this creative healing biz for the long haul. I think it’s funny that I have been engaging in creative and healing practices for much of my life, counting all the learning and growing years, and I am finally acknowledging that I am in for good. My work has taken many different paths of expression while the foundation has remained the same.
When I began putting my hands on people as a healer, I wanted to be the best at it. I typically want to be the best at everything I do; and to clarify, I am speaking of my best, not better than or best above all others- I have a thirst for wisdom and how things work- it is a passion. It has always been a goal to learn and experience all that I could so that I could serve as a competent guide for those seeking healing. What I found by chasing after knowledge is that there is a mystery that will never be solved or known. We will never know completely and this is wisdom.
When I look over the years of my learning, creating and healing journey–it is just that: A Journey. As I moved through my life, making choice after choice, I could never have known I was shaping the reality I now live. I had times of impatience, deep and unfulfilled longing, fear, fear and more fear.
Looking back, I can see that each choice and step-forward and backward, was crucial to my development as a healer and creative. It is this knowing that I lean into when fears arise—I remind myself: I am in process. I am practicing.
We are always becoming
So many of us worry that we are not living our purpose, that there is something missing or that we are meant for something bigger. I, too, have this worry. And sometimes it is just ridiculous and I have to laugh at this part of myself. I have grown to know this part of me that is always looking outside and judging: “not enough” of something. I can let her run the show, but I would rather bring her under my wing and let her learn some gratitude.
Practicing gratitude for the smallest of things, experiences, and moments in life is not a new concept. But have you considered what you are sending out when you are stuck in feeling not enough? It ain’t gratitude, that’s for sure!
Can you find moments of acceptance for ‘what is’ if not gratitude?
In mid-January I began a new daily practice. It was offered to our group by one of my teachers in the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition (PMT). I am hosting a three part class at my home called “Wilka Hampiq” (medicine work). It is a deepening of the healing energies and tutelary animals of the five directions and how to work this medicine.
As part of our homework for this class, our teacher prescribed a ritual for us to practice on Monday, Wednesday and Friday until we meet again in person for class two. I decided to do this practice daily.
Each day, especially before a treatment session—when I am treating another—I use my feather, bell, and rattle to cleanse my energy field. I have noticed that cleansing my field in this way raises my vibration, grounds me, and supports me in finding my balance as a soul-embodied human.
When my field is clear, I am clear. I step out of confusion, worry, and fear, and I find a deeper connection with my power. This practice also gives me an opportunity to see where I am leaking power—to people, situations, and things I have no control over. It helps me recognize that all simply is—what is.
We are here on this earth to practice, not to achieve perfection. It is our continual seeking after perfection that has us feeling “not enough”. Can you love yourself even if you are not perfect?
I am reminded of a part of a Leonard Cohen song: Anthem where he sings, "There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in". A really good friend of mine wrote this quote in a birthday card for my 40th birthday. I was going through a rough patch in my life and this was like a beacon for my soul. Can you think back in your life and see the amazing number of times you were given a beacon of hope through another? I know I have many I can think of !
Do just one thing each day!
I have been following this advice: do just one thing each day toward your goal. I have found even the littlest amount of action toward my bigger picture goal has so much value. And when I can stay out of judgement that it wasn’t enough, I feel successful.
Now, more than ever, there is so much fear out there as there is so much shifting going on. The world we have come to know is rapidly changing shape and some of us are left not knowing what to do, or what will happen. These are not small worries. Worries about losing jobs, homes, place, position and our sense of selves in relation to the world we have grown to know. We are literally on the edge of the unknown and the stakes are high.
If you’ve been doing your inner work, waiting for the ‘right time’ to share your gifts with the world—this might be your moment. I am writing to encourage you to move into the reason you are here or if you are doing it, keep going! Find your way by connecting with your soul and learning to trust the whispers of your soul each day! You will be in for a wild ride, guaranteed!
Let go of how many likes, shares, or followers you get or don’t get. It is not about that at all! Bringing your work, what ever that may be, is a way to continually shift what is shifting and adds light to the world.
This, after all, is the job of the light worker!
With Love and Cosmic Dreaming,
Deborah
